I’m fascinated by the consequences of the unexpected and surprising colliding with the ordinary and the mundane.  Do people step up or do they crumble?  Are they forever changed or can’t they wait to get back to their life before?  Will they be a hero or will they avoid the spotlight?  The stories I love most explore that conflict.

In the New Forest Crime Drama series I write about Hep Anderssen, a journalist working on a local newspaper in the New Forest because that’s a life I know.  I was born and bred here and began my career on the local newspaper, although there was considerably less serious crime than I imagine in my books.

I don’t live in the New Forest any more, having moved closer to London for work some years ago, but it will always be home.  It is a beautiful area with such contrasts:  the forest and the sea, luxurious wealth and difficult poverty, new opportunities and deep traditions.  I think this makes for a whole host of interesting stories for me to tell.

So if you enjoy the drama bit of a crime drama, living our hero’s life along with them, understanding their story with all its challenges and triumphs alongside solving some interesting mysteries and if you love a strong female character taking the lead, then I think my books will be for you.
